Our Commitment

Sustainability

For us, sustainability is not a buzzword – it is the way we work every day. Our approach is integrated: practices that protect coffee trees also benefit vanilla vines, and vice versa.

Three Pillars

Our Sustainability Framework

01

Coffee & Vanilla Together

Environmental Stewardship

  • Shade-grown systems with Ficus & Albizia trees serving both coffee and vanilla
  • Coffee pulp & vanilla prunings composted and returned to soil
  • Water recycling at coffee washing stations and vanilla cleaning areas
  • No deforestation policy – all outgrower plots are mapped
  • Solar drying units cut post-harvest losses by 25% for both crops
Environmental Stewardship
02

Fair Prices, Stable Income

Economic Sustainability

  • Outgrowers receive fair, stable prices – above local market rates
  • Farmers growing both coffee AND vanilla earn 50–70% more
  • Interest-free advances for seedlings, trellises, and pulpers
  • Payment within 48 hours of delivery for both crops
  • Transparent weight and grade records for every delivery
Economic Sustainability
03

People at the Centre

Social Sustainability

  • Free agronomy training for both coffee pruning and vanilla pollination
  • Child labour strictly prohibited – separate audits for each crop
  • Women's Coffee & Vanilla Collective provides micro-grants
  • 120 young people trained in cupping, curing, and export documentation
  • Community school support funded by combined crop profits

How We Work

Our Culture

At Damex, culture means showing up for our farmers every day — through training, fair prices, and a genuine belief that a thriving farming community is the only foundation for lasting export quality.

🌾

Farmer-First Philosophy

Every decision — from harvest timing to payment terms — is designed to support and uplift the farmers in our network first.

📚

Continuous Training

On-farm demonstrations on proper harvesting, curing, and handling ensure our farmers produce higher-grade, lower-waste coffee every season.

🤲

Community Development

We support orphans and vulnerable households, collaborate with UCDA, and engage with the Ministry of Agriculture on community uplift programmes.

♀️

Women's Empowerment

45% of our registered farmers are women. Our Women's Coffee & Vanilla Collective provides micro-grants and skills training.

🌱

Nursery Bed Programme

We distribute free nursery beds to help farmers establish new coffee and vanilla gardens, growing our supply base sustainably.

🔍

Transparency & Accountability

Transparent weight records and grade sheets for every delivery. Farmers know exactly what they're being paid for and why.
