Quality Assurance
Coffee Testing & Grading
Our professional coffee tasters are certified by the Coffee Quality Institute (CQI), a non-profit organisation that works internationally to improve the quality of coffee and the lives of the people who produce it.
CQI-certified graders must pass 22 tests to prove they can grade coffee accurately and consistently by its aroma, flavour, acidity, body, balance, and more. Coffee is scored on a scale of up to 100.
Uganda's Arabica coffee has consistently improved year-on-year. An Arabica from Kapchwora, Eastern Uganda, scored 86.83 in a global survey. Damex works closely with UCDA (Uganda Coffee Development Authority) in sensitising farmers — and we aim to help Uganda reach No. 1 in quality.
"Working with our group of farmers, we have been improving over the years following massive sensitisation by UCDA. If everyone in the coffee value chain does it right, we can attain the No. 1 position in exporting quality coffee."
